Progress in Plant Polyploidization Based on Antimicrotubular Drugs
نویسندگان
چکیده
The results of artificial polyploidization for horticultural and agronomic plant species are presented in this review. The data on use of the classical antimitotic drug colchicine for chromosome doubling are reported. The efficacy of other compounds such as dinitroanilines and phosphorothioamidates in polyploidy induction as compared to colchicine has been summarized. The molecular basis of highly specific binding of dinitroanilines and phosphorothioamidates with plant tubulin for induction of efficient polyploidy are discussed.

Stimulation of steroid secretion by antimicrotubular agents.
The antimicrotubular agents colchicine, vinblastine, and podophyllotoxin have been found to stimulate steroid production by Y-l adrenal tumor cells in culture. The amount of steroid secreted under the influence of these agents is comparable to the amount produced during maximal adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) stimulation. The steroid end products, ZOa-dihydroprogesterone and llfl-hydroxy-20a-dihydro...
متن کاملNanobiosensors-their Applications in the Medicinal Plants Industry
For centuries, herbal drugs have been the only accessible resource for treatment of pain and passions. Today, despite remarkable progress and development of synthetic drugs, medicinal plants and their derived drugs are used massively. So that, in some countries medicinal plants is inseparable from drugs and treatment systems. More ever, their marketing and economical aspects are more flourishin...
متن کاملSexual Polyploidization in Medicago sativa L.: Impact on the Phenotype, Gene Transcription, and Genome Methylation
Polyploidization as the consequence of 2n gamete formation is a prominent mechanism in plant evolution. Studying its effects on the genome, and on genome expression, has both basic and applied interest. We crossed two diploid (2n = 2x = 16) Medicago sativa plants, a subsp. falcata seed parent, and a coerulea × falcata pollen parent that form a mixture of n and 2n eggs and pollen, respectively. ...
متن کاملThrombopoietin-induced Polyploidization of Bone Marrow Megakaryocytes Is Due to a Unique Regulatory Mechanism in Late Mitosis
Megakaryocytes undergo a unique differentiation program, becoming polyploid through repeated cycles of DNA synthesis without concomitant cell division. However, the mechanism underlying this polyploidization remains totally unknown. It has been postulated that polyploidization is due to a skipping of mitosis after each round of DNA replication. We carried out immunohistochemical studies on mous...
متن کاملProgress in Understanding and Sequencing the Genome of Brassica rapa
Brassica rapa, which is closely related to Arabidopsis thaliana, is an important crop and a model plant for studying genome evolution via polyploidization. We report the current understanding of the genome structure of B. rapa and efforts for the whole-genome sequencing of the species. The tribe Brassicaceae, which comprises ca. 240 species, descended from a common hexaploid ancestor with a bas...
